The Choice of William B.
A Hymn to American Nature
Screenplay

“THE CHOICE OF WILLIAM B.” IS A VISUAL SYMPHONY INTO THE MIND AND CREATIVE PROCESS OF A STAGE DIRECTOR. DRIVEN TO TRANSPOSE HIS LATEST HOW
Dorothy in Kansas
INTO A MOVIE, THE HERO BATTLES THE DREAM-WORLD OF HIS OWN MEMORY WITH THE DEMANDS OF REALITY AS HE SEEKS TO PERSONIFY THE LANDSCAPES OF AMERICA.
The spiral of the Guggenheim building and the spiraling dynamic of a tornado give shape to the movie. A constant game of mirrors echoes back on itself in an ever-renewed attempt to restate three themes: the harsh reality of everyday life, the colorful world of the Performing Arts, and the dream-like reality of American Nature.
Steeped in American poetry and characterized with winks to the Wizard of Oz, the story is an ode to America, to the creative imagination, and to overcome personal tragedy and loss through the choices we make.

THE WISH TO CREATE A 'PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE' TO OUR COUNTRY THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF THE PERFORMING ARTS SERVED AS THE SPARK OF INSPIRATION FOR WHAT COULD BE CALLED A FIRST 'ECOLOGICAL MOVIE': ONE IN WHICH
Nature shapes the scenes: landscapes are not background to a human emotion, but rather the driving force of an interaction itself.
TO USE THE MOST BELOVED AMERICAN FAIRYTALE AS THE LOOM OF A STORY WHICH UNITES RATHER THAN DIVIDES US.
IT IS THE STORY OF A HUMAN RESPONSE TO THE AMERICAN DREAM EMBEDDED INTO NATURE HERSELF.
